Museveni still brims with better ideas

I am responding to claims by Beti O. Kamya in her story "Museveni runs out of Ideas," The New Vision 14th Feb. 2001. l That the President has run out of ideas and was waiting for Besigye's manifesto for inspiration and thus copying it. Kamya should know that to copy from someone you must have some things in common. Museveni talks about consolidating the achievements of the Movement, so what is Besigye consolidating? l President Museveni in his manifesto puts across statistical data of economic growth. Where is this data in Besigye's manifesto? Besigye cannot have such data because he is out of touch with the grassroots. l Kamya also says that Museveni up to now has no manifesto. Madam Kamya, I offer you a copy of Museveni's manifesto for you to compare with Besigye's. pick it up from our Task Force Offices. l Kamya also states that Museveni takes Ugandans for granted. Possibly Kamya forgot because of campaign fatigue and fear for defeat. Museveni holds a lot of respect for Ugandans. If there is a President who is so liberal and down to earth, it is Museveni. A president who meets diplomats and at the same time remembers to attend to local people's appointments, besides sparing time for the displaced people in villages, is Museveni. A president who keeps awake day and night attending to national, regional and international issues is Museveni. A president who is working hard to create a regional market of over 250 million people in E.Africa is no one else but Museveni. A president who keeps a deaf ear to personal attacks and abuses from the media and other platforms is no other than Museveni. The list is endless. l It will take a century for Kamya and her favourite candidate Ssenyondo to adjust to such a man of high calibre as President Museveni.
