By Ahmed Angulibo PRESIDENTIAL candidate Col. Kizza Besigye has promised to re-establish total peace, security and stability in Uganda and the Great Lakes Region if elected president. "In my manifesto, it is going to be our priority to re-establish total peace, security and stability within Uganda and the whole region. Without peace we can not do anything," he told a huge rally at the boma ground in Nebbi last Friday. Besigye, accompanied by his wife, Winnie Byanyima, said in the 15 years of president Yoweri Museveni's government, wars have been going on in Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also said wars fought by the ADF, LRA, WNBF and Kirumidi rebels have severely affected Ugandans. "None of these people fighting today can trust Museveni to re-establish peace. They are very suspicious of him. He cannot sit down with any one of them and agree to re-establish peace," he said. "A new person who can discuss with all these people and re-establish peace in the whole region, is needed. I promise you we are going to do that," Besigye said. He said after re-establishing peace, they will compensate people who have lost their property and assist those who have been devastated by wars, to re-start their lives. Ends
