Over 50 students will be members of the cast, band and backstage crew of the production based on a book written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Cassey who are also the composers of the music. A press release by Rashmi, the Public Relations Officer states that the play is set in the 1950's in a high school in the USA where 'Pink Ladies' and the 'Greasers' are the popular gangs. "The play also has a lot of singing and dancing of the 50s style. The school's productions provide an opportunity for students to participate in well-known stage productions and to create an entertainment opportunity for the community in Kampala," Rashmi said. The April 2, show will cost sh7,000 while the Wednesday and Thursday show will each cost sh8,000. The tickets are being sold at the National Theatre. Its previous performances that thrilled audiences in Kampala include Joseph and the Technicolour, Dreamcoat, Little Shop of Horrors and The Wiz. The school's annual performances are non-profit making ventures. Revenue from ticket and t-shirts sold will be used to pay the National Theater and to pay for the rights to use the scripts and musical scores. Ends
