NATIONAL champion Charlie Lubega in a Mitsubishi Evo4 yesterday joined this weekend's UMC organised rally, setting up a clash with title contenders Chipper Adams and Moses Lumala who entered earlier.

By Douglas Mazune NATIONAL champion Charlie Lubega in a Mitsubishi Evo4 yesterday joined this weekend's UMC organised rally, setting up a clash with title contenders Chipper Adams and Moses Lumala who entered earlier. The Angenoir and Sportsman crew of Lubega and his co-driver Abed Musa who are second in the NRC standings on 190 points-10 points behind Chipper, will be out to regain the lead. The youthful crew of Nadim Lalani and his co-driver Alfred Matanda Lalani, Herbert 'Fatso' Lubega, Wycliff Bukenya, Godfrey Katende, Toplex Makanga, Arthur Blick, Sam Goosens, and Prince Kimbugwe registered are also in the race. The rally starts with a super special stage at the exciting Garuga double track circuit where cars will go head-to-head on April 14, before the main leg, which will traverse Mukono district the next day. The clerk of course Ahmed Ssenyonjo is in the final stages of mapping the route of the rally, which will go through areas of Walusubi, Nakifuma and Kyetume among others. Registration of competitors for the rally, which is the fourth round of the NRC series is still open at Jokers Sports Bar on Buganda road. r THE youthful crew of Nadim Lalani and his co-driver Alfred Matanda in a Golf GTI yesterday entered the Uganda Motor Club (UMC)organised rally, bringing the number of crew in the event to eight. Lalani and Matanda who are the youngest paring in this year's championship, are riding high in Clubman Rally Championship The other entrants in the rally scheduled for April 14-15 are; championship leader Chipper Adams, 1999 champion Moses Lumala, Herbert 'Fatso' Lubega, Wycliff Bukenya, Godfrey Katende, Toplex Makanga and Prince Kimbugwe.
