By Josephine Maseruka The Mukono district Speaker Al-Hajji Edrisa Mayanja Njuki has attacked the Mubende district chairman, Col. Kasirye Ggwanga for maligning officials in the district. Njuki said the recent claims by Kasirye that he was to contest for a parliamentary seat in Nakisuunga, Mukono district after developing and stabilising Mubende implied that district officials in Mukono had not performed. Njuki said this recently while closing a five-day workshop for trainers in adult literacy at Ntaawo farm Institute. He said owning a farm at Banda, Kyandaza, in Nakisunga sub-county was not a strong reason for Kasirye to malign Mukono officials who had achieved a lot for wananchi during their tenure of office. Njuki said, "When Kasirye says he will contest in Mukono to correct what has gone wrong that is an insult to us. He should not malign others for the sake of wooing votes, let him use other methods." He said it was wrong for Kasirye to blame Mukono district officials for non-performance yet they had initiated and improved on many projects and programmes to sensitise and alleviate poverty amongst the people. Njuki said Kasirye is notorious for abusing and maligning people and it was due to his disrespectful nature that he recently abused Katikkiro Joseph Ssemwogerere during a programme on Central Broadcasting Service (CBS) radio.
