By Godfrey Olukya AN old woman who visited her daughter for during Easter holidays was forced to return to the village, after one night, because of her son–in–law's "misbehaviour". Namusoke came all the way from Busiki, Iganga District, to visit her daughter who works in a Kampala primary school. The young woman lives in a single room in Bwaise. The daughter welcomed her mother but did not tell her that she had was cohabiting with a man. The old woman was surprised when a drunken man walked in at 10.00 p.m and her daughter introduced him as her husband. In most Ugandan cultures, it is also taboo for a son–in–law come in contact with a mother–in–law let alone sleep in the same room. However, the old woman had no choice. The neighbours were treated to a free show in the morning as the old woman quarrelled with her daughter. She accused her of not waiting for her to fall asleep before she started playing her "dirty game" with her husband. "Maiyuru gangeri ki ago agakukozesa ebyo nga nnoko awulira?" she asked, meaning, "What kind of appetite is that, that you cannot wait for me to fall asleep?" Fortunately for the man, he survived embarrassment because he had left early before the daughter and mother woke up. The old woman packed her property and left in spite of her daughter pleading for forgiveness. Ends
