THE slain Makerere University student, Kajabago Mirindi, was a witness in the Prince Kijanangoma murder trial, reports Edith Kimuli. The investigating officer John Omoding, testified that he was informed that Mirindi met Alex Twinomugisha, one of the murder suspects, at Don Plaza on the eve of the murder. Omoding told Justice John Bosco Katutsi that he interviewed Mirindi. He said Mirindi was slated to make a statement at the time he was gunned down together with two colleagues at the Makerere University eastern gate in 1999. He said Twinomugisha and another man have been charged with the students' murder. Former Toro Prime Minister John Katuramu, Twinomugisha and three others are charged with Kijanangoma's murder in March 1999. They are also charged with murdering Stephen Kaganda, a guard at a nearby premise. Omoding said he also interviewed Felly Babara, who was wounded in the shooting. He said Babara told him the killers bought their victims beers at her Palace View Bar in Fort Portal and that Kijanangoma's killer was joined by another man before the shooting took place. He said he got information that the assassins forced a Voice of Toro driver, Milton Mwesigwa, to get them out of Fort-Portal after the killing. Omoding said during the investigations, Mwesigwa took him to Katuramu's farm in Rwenkuba, Mwenge, where he took the suspects. Ends
