Bob Muzinduki is eying the Fort Portal Municipality Seat. He accuses the incumbent Dr. Apollo Karugaba of being out of touch with his constituents and failing to effect his electoral promises of improving health, electrifying the entire town and creating jobs for the youth. He wants to oust Steven Kavuma, the incumbent and Minister of State for Defence, whom he alleges to have done nothing to develop the constituency. He plans to establish community development associations to fight poverty and enhance development. RAKAI district economist, Ruth Asiimwe Kanyaruju has declared her intention to unseat state minister for internal affairs and Rakai district woman MP, Sarah Kiyingi Namusoke. "These grass roots women need someone with total commitment to work with them and articulate their issues in parliament and I am the person who can do this having worked with them for over seven years," said Kanyuruju who holds a BA degree in economics and rural economy. He is standing on the Movement ticket. David Mafabi, Pan African Movement Senior Political Assistant has declared his intentions to contest for a seat in the East African Legislative. Mafabi aims says he is aiming at, "harmonising and stabilising macro-economic policies in the region and also speed up the on the ongoing negotiation between the three partner states on a customs union." He says because of the need of building a consensus on collective defence and security matters, he will will address these issues when he joins the East African Community. Dr. Mike Bayiga director of Uganda Medical Volunteer's Association and deputy speaker of Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) is to contest the Buikwe South. Bayiga says that he wants to champion legislators to withdraw mandate from non-performing elected leaders. He said that the people of the constituency have been voiceless for over 15 years. "I shall champion debate on land, federo and shall not tolerate corruption of public officers,'' he said. He also promised to advocate for betterment of schools, roads and modernise agriculture.
