URA Appoints Five New Officers

UGANDA Revenue Authority (URA), a tax collection body in the country, has appointed five top officers.

The officers took up the posts of commissioner and assistant commissioner with effect from yesterday. A June 6 statement from URA said the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, on the advice of the board, on April 18 this year, appointed Ms Annebritt Maria Aslund Ericson, Commissioner General, URA. Aslund finally takes up her duties on June 27. The statement signed by the URA Acting Commissioner General, Stephen Akabway, said Mrs. Allen Kagina is now Commissioner for Customs and Excise. Christopher Muhumuza Mpeka, is Commissioner for Research and Development, William Othieno, Commissioner for Finance and Administration. Others appointed are are John Etyang, appointed Assistant Commissioner Customs, Eastern Region and Kenneth Bagamuhunda, Assistant Commissioner Customs, Entebbe. "As you may be aware, the Uganda Revenue Authority has been in the process of filling various vacant posts within its senior management. In order to fill these positions, the board advertised the positions in the press for interested candidates with the right qualifications to apply within the given deadlines," the statement said.
