By Emmanuel Mulondo A WOMAN candidate for Mwenge south in Kyenjojo district has complained to the police that Aston Kajara, the incumbent MP, drew a gun at her supporters on Saturday. But Kajara also registered a similar complaint alleging that Dora Byamukama's supporters attacked and assaulted his supporters. Fadulu Ali Muyirima, the western regional police commander, said Kajara's bodyguard confirmed that Kajara had a pistol in his hand during the night clashes. Both parties accuse each other of provocation and blocking the road at Kanywankoko in Kyakarungu parish, Butiiti sub-county. Three of Byamukama's supporters, who sustained injuries, said Kajara drew a pistol and brandished a hammer at them. Muyirima said the police were following up the matter. However, Kajara said in a statement he issued on Monday that Byamukama's supporters used their vehicle to block the road as his supporters returned from a party organised by one of his campaign managers. "The occupants (of Byamukama's vehicle) got out and attacked us with sticks and bottles. They hit our vehicle and people," Kajara said. He said Byamukama's supporters were drunk and had beer bottles and marijuana in their vehicle. "It is not true that I beat up people but my people just defended themselves against attackers," he said. The incident is the second in the district in two weeks. Recently, a man was shot in the buttocks in Kasule sub-county where supporters of Kelementi Kandole tried to assault the officer in charge of Kasule police station who was restraining them from attacking supporters of Stephen Katongole Ends
