The team returns aboard Kenya Airways at Entebbe at 9am after stopovers in Amsterdam and Nairobi. The team left Toronto Sunday night after a party organised for them by West Indians and Africans resident in Canada. UCA boss Francis Kazinduki said yesterday that the performance of the Ugandan team in the 2001 ICC Trophy had surpassed all expectations. "The boys marvelled all. That was great and we can kick-start all international competitions from this performance. We shall accord them a heroes welcome," said Kazinduki. Uganda was stopped by 1994 champions United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the play-offs at the Mini World Cup, a qualification event for 2003 World Cup for three teams among the 24 Associate Members. Uganda ranked 23 out of the teams, whipped fancied Ireland in a practice game then Malaysia, Argentina, East and Central Africa, France and Israel leaving back a memorable six victories. "I call all cricket lovers to travel to Entebbe and welcome back the team. They did great works and carried Uganda's flag high," added Kazinduki.
