By Catherine Ntabadde A passenger caused laughter in a Kampala-Ntinda bound taxi when he refused to give in his money for change. When the taxi got full in the old taxi park, the conductor asked if there was any passenger with money in big denominations. The conductor insisted that they should give him the money because he did not have change. None of the passengers responded. One man pulled out a sh10,000 note but did not give it to the conductor. When the conductor went for the money, the man asked, "Are you the conductor, I might give you my money and you just disappear with it," he said. The conductor told him that if he thought he was not the conductor, then he should not give him his money. This sparked off laughter in the taxi as some of passengers agreed with him that there were many conmen in town. The man still refused to give in the money as his fellow passengers continued laughing. However, another man told him that conductors always collect money big denominations so as to get change. The man handed in the money when the taxi had moved some distance and the man was sure of the conductor's identity. He was taking no chances. Ends
