By A. G. Musamali THE Government will soon send equalisation grants to disadvantaged local authorities, a Ministry of Local Government official said on Tuesday. The Commissioner for Local Government in-charge of urban authorities, Mr Abbey Iga, was accompanying a visiting Zambian delegation on their tour of Kawempe Division. The delegation is here to study Uganda's decentralisation process and will visit several urban as well as rural local government authorities. Iga said equalisation grants were meant to bring disadvantaged local authorities to acceptable levels in comparison to other parts of the country. He said the grants would be distributed as soon as a national standard is established. The leader of the Zambian delegation, Sycorax Ndhlovu, said his country was piloting decentralisation to enhance power to the people and promote sustained development. Ends
