By James Bakama MARY Bacia and coach Nalis Bigingo depart tomorrow for the Africa junior athletics championships in Mauritius. They will join Boniface Toroitich who left Sunday for the four-day meet that starts tomorrow. Toroitich will compete in 10,000 and 5000 meters while Bacia is for 800m. The biennial competition targeted at athletes below 20 years should have had a bigger Ugandan entry but the contingent’s size was trimmed because of financial constraints. Uganda last participated in the competition in 1997 in Ibadan, Nigeria. Bacia will make up for her recent World junior championship mishap when she was disqualified for stepping on the line. Meanwhile, Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation (UAAF) is yet to get travel details of athletes Julius Acon and Grace Birungi from the just concluded World Championship in Edmonton. Both athletes failed to make it past the heats in the nine-day competition. r Mary Apio and Paul Oyet have, meanwhile, received scholarships to study at Bethune-Cookman College in USA. The scholarships were arranged by the college’s sports professor Curtis Pittman recently in kampala on a coaching tour. They depart this month. Ends
