By Vision Reporter The Uganda Veterinary Association and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Makerere University, are organising a scientific conference. The conference under the theme, “Animal Health and Production: A key to Poverty Alleviation,” is scheduled for September 19 to 21. Prof. Elly Katunguka Rwakishaya, the organising committee chairman, said agriculture minister Dr. Kisamba Mugerwa is expected to open the conference at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. The conference will focus on issues affecting farmers, veterinarians, suppliers of livestock products and other stakeholders in the animal industry. He said the theme focuses on poverty because surveys had shown that poverty bites harder in areas where livestock production is low. He appealed to all veterinarians to attend the conference and to veterinary drug companies to display their range of products in an exhibition to be staged outside the conference hall. ends
