THE Luweero Chief Magistrate’s Court on Friday remanded 23 residents of Kikandwa Mwera village, Katikamu, in connection with an incident last week in which a mob destroyed the LC1 chairman’s house, slashed his food crops, killed his goats and looted his property.
The accused were remanded by the Luweero Chief Magistrate, Isaac Muwata, on charges of causing malicious damage and aggravated robbery.
The Prosecution said the accused persons committed the offences on October 11, at the home of Jackson Kasule, the LC1 chairman of Mwera Kikandwa village, in Makulubita sub-county, Luweero district.
The assailants accused their victim of practicing witchcraft in the village causing suffering to residents.
The Prosecution further said the accused persons destroyed Kasule’s house, crops and stole property worth sh10m.
They were also charged with aggravated robbery.
Luweero Police arrested the 23 accused immediately after the incident.
Court adjourned the case until October 25.
