By Hillary Nsambu THE High Court will tomorrow hear reasons by the Attorney General why the Police is detaining six Pakistanis without trial since they were arrested on October 2. Justice John Patrick Tabaro will preside over the habeas corpus application scheduled to take place at 3.00pm. The six Pakistanis, through Kibanda-Luswata and Company Advocates, applied to court for their application to be heard yesterday, but the Attorney General was reportedly not aware that they had not been produced before court and asked for more time to consult the relevant authorities over the matter. The Acting Director of Civil Litigation, Mr Deus Byamugisha, represented the Attorney General in court proceedings from which journalists were barred. The terror suspects are Maqbool Ahmed Malik, Muhammad Sarwar Waseem, Esa Khan, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, Salman Mehmood Khan and Imtaz Khan. They were arrested together with a Zambian, Mukanga Murenga, on October 2 at Entebbe Airport and in the suburbs of Kampala on suspicion of being linked to the terror network headed by the world’s most wanted man, Osama bin Laden, a Saudi-born, now living in Afghanistan. The Pakistanis, who were without the Zambian, were escorted to the High Court under heavy security. They were returned to the Central Police Station (CPS) on a police pick-up truck under the same escort immediately after the hearing of their application flopped. Zambia recently sent its security personnel to join Uganda in interrogating the suspects. Interpol was also investigating a Pakistani-based travel agency that arranged their travel. Ends
