By Nathan Etengu The US Department of Defence has given Moroto High School US$140,000 (about sh300m) for the rehabilitation of a dormitory block, kitchen and dining hall. The same fund is also being used to construct pit-latrines in the school that was built in 1965. The defence attaché at the US embassy, Lt. Col. Richard Orth, toured the premises last Wednesday to acquaint himself with the renovation. Orth said the donation was part of the humanitarian assistance offered by the Department of Defence. The headmaster, George Ruremire, said the former MP for Moroto municipality, Michael Lote, solicited the assistance from the US government. He said, “All the windows in the dormitory lacked panes and all the doors were broken.” Ruremire said the dining hall and energy saving cooking systems in the kitchen had also broken down.
