SIR—I read in The New Vision of November 27 that poaching of the saddle-bill stork has grown to alarming proportions and could result in the extinction of this silent and uncommon bird. I join all conservation-minded Ugandans to condemn the people engaged in destroying our natural heritage. I call on the Government to re-visit the anti-poaching laws so that stiffer sentences can be meted out to these unpatriotic Ugandans. Moses Nampala reports, however, that the saddle-bill stork falls under the family of flamingos. I thought the saddle-bill stork belonged to the family of Ciconiidae, whereas the flamingo belonged to the family of Phoenicopteridae. Norman Rwakaizi Ntungamo
