By Grace Matsiko PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has appointed two female UPDF officers as directors in the army, The New Vision has learnt. Capt. Annet Nkalubo, a lawyer was appointed to head the key directorate of supplies and procurement while Capt. Agnes Musoke becomes the commander of women in the UPDF, military sources said yesterday. The UPDF director of information and public relations, Maj. Shaban Bantariza, confirmed the appointments but said he did not have details because he had only returned to Kampala yesterday morning from Karamoja. “I heard there were appointments made but I am yet to establish who the people appointed were. For now I don’t want to give you wrong information,” Bantariza said. Nkalubo, was an army representative in the 6th Parliament and a long- serving member of the army court martial. She replaces Lt. Col. Kiwanuka whose new posting has not yet been established. Musoke, a member of the court martial replaces Lt. Col. Nalweyiso, who was recently appointed presidential advisor. Recently, the Army Commander, Maj. Gen. James Kazini summoned all female UPDF officers from all over the country for a meeting at Bombo military headquarters. The women reportedly said few of them were appointed to high offices in the army and none was at the rank of lieutenant colonel. ends
