By Albert Ayiga Ondoga and Charles Opolot People living with HIV/AIDS in Nebbi district have urged Ugandans to change their social behaviour and avoid re-marrying spouses whose partners have died. They said the custom of men inheriting their late brothers’ wives was speeding up the spread of the epidemic. Seven people, five of them women, gave moving testimonies on how they contracted the disease during the Aids Day celebrations organised by Action Aid, the Network of AIDS services organisations in Nebbi and Nebbi district local government at Boma ground . The ceremony was presided over by the Nebbi Women MP, Betty Udongo, and attended by Action Aid Country director Medi Makumbi. Udongo, who represented the state minister for public service, Okumu Ringa, urged families to be faithful and respectful in their relationships to avoid getting infected.
