The hosts won the women’s tennis, swimming and volleyball awards, the men’s swimming crown and made an impact in other fields in Kampala yesterday. Makerere was third overall in both the men’s and women’s scrabble action where Kenyatta emerged victors. The four-day Games that drew 25 universities in 15 disciplines end today at Makerere university grounds and Mandela stadium. In the girl’s volleyball final, Makerere captained by Agnes Chono outclassed rivals Makerere University Business School (MUBS) who fell 3-0. Makerere also stormed the netball final where they take on Nkumba. In the men’s table tennis final, Makerere was due to meet Nairobi University last evening. Makerere also reached the boy’s final against Nkumba last evening. On the basketball court, Makerere women are through to the final due today after beating Kenya’s Egerton University 56-28. Colated results: Handball (men)-Makerere 30 Egerton 7, Kenyatta 34 Moi 17; netball-Makerere 33 MUBS 15, Nkumba 32, Dar-es-Salaam 31; volleyball (girls)- Makerere bt MUBS 3-0; basketball (men)- Makerere 52 Nairobi 46, Nkumba 48 Kyambogo 44, women-Makerere 56 Egerton 28. ends
