Museveni meets Ireland envoy, congratulated

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni on Sunday received the Charge d'Affairs of the Republic of Ireland in Uganda, Mr Martin O'Fainin (left).

By Elizabeth Kameo PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni on Sunday received the Charge d'Affairs of the Republic of Ireland in Uganda, Mr Martin O'Fainin (left). Museveni also held a meeting with the visiting executive secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Mr. Amoaka at State House Nakasero. A statement from State House said the President received a letter from the Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Aherne, and discussed issues of bilateral interest to their two countries with O'Fainin. During the meeting with Amoaka, the President and O'Fainin exchanged views on a number of development related policies which Africa needs to institute in order to promote the development of her human resources in the face of the challenges brought about by economic globalisation.Meanwhile, the President also received messages of congratulations for the independence anniversary from 13 dignitaries. The messages wishing Ugandans happy independence celebrations were from Presidents of Bangladesh, Tunisia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Germany, Hellenic Republic, S.Korea, China, Cuba, Netherlands and N. Korea. Libya's Muamar Gaddafi also sent a message. Ends
