Ethics and integrity minister Miria Matembe has said she should not be blamed for failing to curb corruption.

By Catherine Kigozi Ethics and integrity minister Miria Matembe has said she should not be blamed for failing to curb corruption. Addressing over 144 police officers from Old Kampala at Pride theatre yesterday, Matembe said, little had been done by the Judiciary and the police to fight corruption. She said the police and judiciary had often frustrated efforts to deal with the culprits by accepting bribes, misplacing files and letting them free. "People should stop condemning Matembe for failure but should blame the judiciary and the police for their impotence. These two institutions have frustrated my efforts by accepting bribes," she said. She asked those asking for the scrapping of her ministry to first look into how it operates with the two institutions. She said the two bodies were not implementing her recommendations. Ends.
