By Davis Weddi Spear Motors proprietor Gordon Wavamunno's car was on Sunday night blocked and shot at by foru armed thugs near his home in Buziga, a suburb of Kampala. Police said Wavamunno turned up at Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) at around 10:00pm with a shattered car window screen. "They overtook me and stopped in front of my car. Then three of them came out, all with pistols and ordered me to come out. "They argued among themselves. One was saying shoot, shoot, shoot him. But then I decided to reverse very fast and took off," Wavamunno said yesterday. Wavamunno is also a Consul for Cyprus. "As I was taking off, they opened fire at my window, but it has a special window glass, so the bullets could not go through," Wavamunno narrated. Wavammuno and the Police have declined to disclose the car he was driving at the time. According to the Deputy Police spokesman, Eric Naigambi, Wavamunno said he believed the thugs had trailed him for some time and had tried to overtake him but had failed until he was near his residence. Wavamunno said he drove off at high speed to Kampala Central Police Station where he got Police officers to escort him home. He said he was so scared to report to the nearby Kabalagala Police post. "I was so scared. I feared these people could follow me to the nearby Kabalagala Police post with bigger guns, that's why I went to the Central Police Station," added Wavamunno. The Police said they were hunting for the suspects. They took a statement from Wavamunno and deployed detectives to Buziga. Wavamunno has ruled out any business rivalry but said he suspected that some of the disgruntled people sacked from his Spear group of companies could be responsible for the attack. Ends.
