STOPPAGES dominated the day as the national novices boxing championship opened with preliminaries at Lugogo indoor stadium yesterday.

In lightweight Abdu Malik of Wobulenzi punched Godfrey Wamala of Seta hopeless forcing the referee to stop the fight in round two. George Musalwa (Quaker) also stopped Ssebalabi (KCC B) in round two. In l/welterweight Medi Semakula (Seta) subdued Ronald Kinene (Katwe) for a round two stoppage. Robwert Angwelo of Busia was the an exception as he handed Isaac Kiiza of Kitubu a knock out in round two. In the lightweight James Tabu of Lukanga subdued R. Ssekitoleko as the powerhouse began a search for yet another crown. Ends.
