FUFA names Cecafa team

NAKIVUBO stadium management committee chairman Seyyid Tumwesigye has been appointed CECAFA organising committee boss.

By Vision Reporter NAKIVUBO stadium management committee chairman Seyyid Tumwesigye has been appointed CECAFA organising committee boss. FUFA secretary Godfrey Kisekka said the team would oversee the two-week competition at Nakivubo and in Mbale. Others on the team are FUFA president Denis Obua, Wilson Tumwine and Polly Ouma, Kisekka, Haruna Mawanda, Hassan Galiwango and Eddie Sembatya. Nakivubo board members Pius Kitaka, William Nkemba, and Richard Turigye are also on the committee. Uganda Cranes opens the competition on Saturday against Ethiopia in group A. The other teams in the group are Burundi, Somalia and Djibouti. Group B to be based in Mbale has defending champion Rwanda, Uganda Lions, Kenya and Eritrea. Burundi would be first to arrive today. WBS Television and UTV will telecast live group A matches involving Uganda Cranes. WBS TV tested its equipment Monday during the KCC-Health league game; so will be today's Simba - Villa game at Nakivubo. The three-day CECAFA referees seminar starts today in Kampala. The referees named to handle the tournament are Siraj Katono and Ali Tomusange (Uganda), Tessema Haile Melak (Ethiopia), Bosco Kiprop (Kenya), Issak Abdul Kadir (Tanzania), Vianney Hicuburundi (Burundi), Mohammed Hassan (Somalia), Mike Gasingwa (Rwanda), Yohannes Dewitt (Eritrea), Abdalla Mohammed (Djibouti), Osman Mohammed Amir (Sudan).
