Meridian project launched

GERMAN Football Association (DFB) official Hermann Selbherr has appealed to FUFA to utilise the Meridian Project to build a formidable team for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

By Leo Kabunga GERMAN Football Association (DFB) official Hermann Selbherr has appealed to FUFA to utilise the Meridian Project to build a formidable team for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Selbherr is in Kampala to approve the frame work of the project, that will see technical expertise being brought into the country from Germany. It is funded by the European and African soccer governing bodies UEFA and CAF. " I hope Uganda will follow Cameroon and Togo (who benefited from a similar project) in three years," Hermann told the press yesterday. The project will cover coaching, administration, refereeing and sports medicine FUFA technical director and Meridian Project co-ordinator Guenter Zittel said sponsors should be found for youth tournaments, and called for accountability.
