Police stop Chapaa rally

CHAPAA Karuhanga, a presidential aspirant, had his rally dispersed by Police in Busia yesterday. Police said the Busia Integrated Primary School playground rally was illegal.

By Davis Wanyama CHAPAA Karuhanga, a presidential aspirant, had his rally dispersed by Police in Busia yesterday. Police said the Busia Integrated Primary School playground rally was illegal. No sooner had Chapaa started addressing the crowd of about 200, than the Police pounced on him. During consultations, aspirants are not allowed to address public rallies. "Why didn't we chase away Besigye (Dr. Kiiza) from here yesterday during his consultation with the people in social hall?" a Police source asked in response to allegations by Chapaa that Police action was unwarranted.
