AG told to pay farmer sh6.4m

MENGO Chief Magist-rate, Deo Nizeyimana, has ordered the Attorney General (AG) to pay a farmer over sh4.8m for his timber, which was impounded, reports Catherine Ntabadde.

MENGO Chief Magist-rate, Deo Nizeyimana, has ordered the Attorney General (AG) to pay a farmer over sh4.8m for his timber, which was impounded, reports Catherine Ntabadde. Nizeyimana also ordered the AG to pay over sh2m to Stephen Kazimiiri as taxed costs of the suit. Kazimiiri sued the AG who was a representative of the Forestry Depar-tment, on December 12, 1998. It is alleged that an official of the forestry department carried away Kezimiiri's timber from Kabowa. It is alleged the department accused Keziimira of getting the timber from Masindi illegally. Kezimiira alleges he had bought the timber from Ndeeba. Ends
