KAMPALA City Council (KCC) has warned that it will demolish all unplanned developments in Kigobe-Namungoona, in Rubaga division.

KAMPALA City Council (KCC) has warned that it will demolish all unplanned developments in Kigobe-Namungoona, in Rubaga division.

This follows an increase in the number of people with developments in gazetted roads and road reserves.

The area was allocated to individuals by National Housing (NHCC) and Construction Company to set up planned settlements on plots.

The town clerk, David Kigenyi-Naluwairo said many people had abused the guidelines established by KCC and the plans provided by NHCC.

Speaking to the New Vision yesterday, Kigenyi said KCC will put down all the structures located in reserves.

He blamed local leaders for conniving with unscrupulous people to sell plots to unsuspecting buyers in road areas.
“Some of the local leaders have been selling land even where roads are meant to be. We shall liaise with security agencies to remove them,” he said.

“That is a planned area with services and clearly demarcated plots and road reserves, but now you cannot even find where the roads are.”

He advised potential buyers of land around the area to seek guidance from KCC before paying money.

In a public notice published by KCC in the New Vision yesterday, Kigenyi asked all the current land owners in the area to contact the planning authority to discuss measures to control the vice.

He proposed the establishment of an association that will monitor activities in the area and ensure that people do not abuse the guidelines.
