CONFEDERATION of African Football (CAF) president Issa Hayatou has welcomed Uganda back to continental football after 33 years of absence, and also announced that he will not challenge for the FIFA presidency.

CONFEDERATION of African Football (CAF) president Issa Hayatou has welcomed Uganda back to continental football after 33 years of absence, and also announced that he will not challenge for the FIFA presidency.

At a press conference held at Bhoulj Al Fatel Hotel Thursday evening, Hayatou said: “33 years has been a long time and we would like to welcome Uganda back into continental football.

"We also welcome Niger that is qualifying for the first time for such a tournament” he said.

When asked whether he planned to give another shot to the FIFA presidency like he did in 2002, Hayatou pointed that: “He (Blatter) has worked hard to see that football develops. Everything is going on well,” he said.

“We [CAF] are working hand in hand with Blatter and everything is moving on well, without serious issues.”

Hayatou also insisted that the Africa Nations Cup will be hosted after every two years because it is aimed at seeing that more infrastructure is developed.

“It is only after getting enough infrastructure that we will think of moving it to four years.”
