OPENING the 2011 transfer market by signing former Berkley centre Moses Muhumuza, the Nkumba Marines will have size in their paint ahead of the forthcoming MTN FUBA basketball season.

Four years now and the Marines have not won any local silverware, let alone make it to the league playoffs.

Nkumba coach Timothy Odeke will not take it anymore and has thus decided on recruiting where it has been lacking.

“He is a very intelligent player with a great basketball IQ and his size is an attribute we are interested in,” said an excited Odeke.

The 6”5’ feet tall player who weighs 115kg will sure dominate the paint alongside Phillip Wakimwero to compliment sensational point guard Ladislaus Ikungura and guards Julius Lutwama and William Otweyo.

“I am very excited to join the Marines and will give it my best whenever on court,” said Muhumuza.

Muhumuza, who featured for Berkley in the 2009/2010 season, did not play for the team in the just concluded season.

“Yes it will affect my performance a notch but I am working on my fitness levels now,” he confirmed.

Nkumba won two back- to-back titles (2005 and 2006) with inspiration from the Blick brothers - Norman and Donald, Boniface Okello and Carol Bisereko who feature for champions Power.
