KAMPALA City Council (KCC) will today pay the outstanding arrears to casual workers, who clean Kampala city roads.

Over 600 sweepers on Tuesday afternoon laid down their tools, saying they had not been paid for the last four months.

The town clerk, David Naluwayiro, said they had received sh800m from the Ministry of Finance to pay them.

“We have the money in the bank and we are to pay them starting this morning at the KCC hall,” he said.

Naluwayiro said this was the last time they were using casual labourers, adding that they were in the process of hiring a firm to take over the cleaning of all city roads.
