Buteme makes rugby history in EA

UGANDA has got the first female national rugby coach in the East and Central African region after Helen Buteme was appointed the U-18 girls and U-16 boys head coach for the next two years.

UGANDA has got the first female national rugby coach in the East and Central African region after Helen Buteme was appointed the U-18 girls and U-16 boys head coach for the next two years.

Buteme, an IRB Level II coach was appointed by the local governing body (URU).

“It’s an honour and it is important that URU didn’t look at my gender status but considered my ability,” an excited Buteme stated.

A number of other appointments were made to fill up coaching positions for the various national teams.
