A former candidate for the Kasese district LC5 chairperson seat, Christopher Kibanzanga, has blamed his supporters for his failure to win the recent elections.

Kibanzanga (FDC), a former Busongora South MP, lost to Mawa Muhindo (NRM) in the elections held on February 23.

Mawa got 87,649, while Kibanzanga got 75,138, representing 53.84% and 46.16% of the votes cast respectively.

Addressing his supporters in Kasese Municipality after Mawa was declared winner, Kibanzanga accused some of them of being moles.

“Our camp was infiltrated. Some of our supporters were bribed to betray us,” Kibanzanga charged.

“We have not been defeated by the NRM but by our own.”

Mawa pledged to work with everyone regardless of their party.

He noted that the district belongs to all the residents.
