Police have launched investigations into circumstance under which FDC leader, Kizza Besigye was wounded.

Besigye was injured after the Police opened fire to disperse protesters in Kasangati his home town in Wakiso district.

“Unconfirmed reports indicate that Mr. Besigye was injured in the ensuing scuffle. The matter is still under investigations and details will be availed,” Police Spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba, told a news conference in Kampala.

The Police publicist was however, tight-lipped about the number of those arrested and the causalities.

She warned that: “Any person in the breach of the constitution and lawful provisions to maintain law and order shall be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of Uganda.”

There have been angry demonstrations in several towns where the Police used tear gas and fired into the air.

Normalcy has returned in different parts of the country mainly in the city suburbs that witnessed violent scenes.
