JINGO Shalif, a businessman and student at Kyambogo University, was over the roof when he got the chance toa meet his favourtite music icon, Samalie Matovu, at a Grand Imperial Hotel recently. Solomon Oleny talked to him about his experience a week after.

What’s up? How it go with Samalie Matovu?
Jingo: Truth be told, I am still not over the whole thing. I have examinations scheduled for a week from now but every other time I flip the book pages to revise, all I see is an image of Matovu’s pecking me on the cheeks and the feel of her warm hug. (Shakes head as he whistles in disbelief).

Have you tried calling her?
Don’t you think that will worsen the situation? I still clearly remember her angelic voice tickling my ears. If the voice I heard a week back sounds as clear as a bell in my ears, what will it sound like on phone?

I’m told you failed to eat the hamburger she ordered for you.
Man, it is not that I didn’t want to, but I failed to figure out how I would begin biting something bigger than the size of my mouth before my precious Matovu. I was afraid to mess up my milk-white shirt because it would depict me as some uncouth fan.

This could be someone’s better-half you are talking about.
She told me she was single and searching when I asked her about her marital status.

So, do you feel like taking things a notch up? Do you want to switch from fan to boyfriend now?
Not really. I do not even really think she was serious about being single. But that aside, I am already seriously committed to somebody. Just do not ask me about her now.

How does she compare to Matovu?
Man, I will still stick to my word; I will not talk about my girl here.

Anything particularly fascinating about Matovu?
She told me she is a born-again Christian and besides, being single, she does not have a child yet. I thought that was really cool. Then the way she distinctly pronounces some words.

I found her American accent a little funny. Nevertheless, I still find her incomparable to any of other artistes. Her body; it is like that of a goddess. Her voice is as sweet as an angel’s and she imparted some pretty serious motherly advice.

How has meeting Matovu changed your life?
Now I know what it feels like to meet somebody I had looked up to all along after being limited to seeing on screen. I cannot wait to buy 10 copies of Blitz when you run the story. I will distribute it to my friends and family.
Sum it all up for us.
Blitz rocks!
