SIMBA will have all the reason to ambush favourites URA in tomorrow’s Bell Uganda Cup final.

Uganda Peoples Defence Forces will, in case of a Simba victory, reward the football side with a sh8m prize.

“The sh8m will be divided amongst the team members. That is the promise from our superiors and I can assure you that the boys can’t wait for the kick-off whistle,” said coach Fred Kajoba.

The winning team will cumulatively walk from Nakivubo with sh12.5m offered by the Cup sponsors.

Besides the sh8m cheque at the final, the rest of the money was won after every stage the competing teams progressed to.

For Kajoba, there can’t be a better time to soar to the trophy.

He first featured for Simba in a Uganda Cup final in 1998. Kajoba, a goalkeeper at the time, looked on in tears as they lost 2-0 to SC Villa.

He was back in the final last year. The soldiers, morale boosted by big promises from UPDF, battled to a 1-all draw before being edged out 5-4 in penalties by Victors.

“This should be our time,” vowed Kajoba who will however be without his lead striker Godfrey Wakaza. The player is serving a suspension for accumulated yellow cards.

URA, who are already league champions, are not taking the game lightly. To ensure maximum concentration, they moved out of the city to Wobulenzi where they will camp until tomorrow.
