Former vice-president Prof. Gilbert Bukenya is expected in the High court today in an election petition challenging his victory as Busiro north MP.

Bukenya and the Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson, Badru Kiggundu, are to be cross examined.

Justice Vincent Kibuuka-Musoke on June 6 ruled that Bukenya and Kiggundu should appear for cross-examination over their affidavits on June 21 and 22 respectively.

This was after Samuel Muyizzi Mulindwa and Ben Ikilai, the lawyers representing the petitioner, Hussein Bukenya Kasta, told court that they would want to question the two gentlemen on the contents of the affidavits they swore opposing the petition.

On April 4, Kasta, who contested against Bukenya, petitioned the High Court in Kampala, challenging Bukenya’s victory citing voter bribery and intimidation.
