EDITOR: Over the weekend, I witness an incident whereby a young Sudanese woman was robbed of her golden jewellery in broad daylight.

She was walking with someone who is likely to have been her husband when a man came directly in front of her, boldly wrenched the neckless from her neck, and ran in the opposite direction.

Another group that pretended to be pursuing the thief half-heartedly ran after him but also disappeared. I was upset and speechless. I was also scared by the incident and removed my nice watch and put it in my pocket to avoid my hands from being cut off.

Are we in the wrong part of the continent where only the law of the jungle applies? We have also heard of Ugandans being beaten in Juba and other parts of South Sudan. It just shows how morally decayed the societies we live in are.

For Ugandans to fit in other communities just like others fit in their communities, they should refrain from such violent robbery. The Bible says: "Seek and you will get, knock and it will be opened, ask and you will be given". Those who resort to violence will one day be paid in the same currency. Ayuen Awan
