FORMER managing director of National Social Security Funds (NSSF) has been released on bail pending his appeal.

The Anti-Corruption Court early this year convicted Jamwa of causing financial loss of sh3bn to Uganda workers who save money with NSS.

Justice John Bosco Katutsi, formerly of the Anti- Corruption Court sentenced Jamwa to serve 12 years imprisonment and barred him from holding any public office for 10 years after that.

In a ruling delivered by Assistant Registrar Alex Ajiji , Justice Augustine Nshimye of Court of Appeal said he was satisfied that if granted bail Jamwa wil not abscond his trial.

“I have no doubt that the applicant, if released will not be tempted to abscond, but remain around to persue his appeal to the end,” Nshimye said.

Justice Nshimye said cash bail of sh10m deposited at the Anti- Corruption Court where Jamwa was tried will be treated as a deposit in Court of Appeal.
