OVER 250 needy children in Nyanama and Bunamwaya in Kampala district have received toys and scholastic materials to aid their learning.

The items were donated by A Cup for Africa, a Christian organisation based in Canada.

The items were handed over to the beneficiaries at Glory to Glory Gospel Ministries Church in Kampala on Saturday.

A Cup for Africa’s president and co-founder Raymond Desmarais said the gesture was a calling for society to support the needy.

“Minister to the poor and enlarge the body of Christ,” Desmarais said.

The organisation, which runs an orphanage, Cup of Africa Desmarais Children’s Home in Nyanama, also supports single mothers by training them in tailoring.

So far, a total of 48 women have been trained and are now engaged in income-generating activities.
