Kabakumba tipped to be Kampala minister

The minister for the Presidency Kabakumba Masiko is slated to become minister for Kampala in order to steer the Kampala City Council Authority’s (KCCA) budget before Cabinet and Parliament.

The minister for the Presidency Kabakumba Masiko is slated to become minister for Kampala in order to steer the Kampala City Council Authority’s (KCCA) budget before Cabinet and Parliament.
Since the new Kampala Capital City Authority law was enacted, there has been no minister to cater for the authority’s interests before the two institutions since the mayor and the executive director do not attend both.
Sources say that Masiko has been designated to oversee the city authority’s operations at ministerial level, a role that her predecessor former Presidency minister Beatrice Wabudeya was performing.
“I am yet to receive the instruments of power instructing me to take charge of the city and represent it in cabinet. But when I do, I will be glad since I am capable and I know how to deliver in Kampala and make it habitable and a good business hub for people to work in,†Masiko said.
