UNRA ordered to compensate Jinja municipal
The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has ordered the Uganda National Roads Authority to compensate Jinja Municipal Council and Tirupati Development Uganda, a private company, for a plot of land that is to be affected by the construction of a new Jinja bridge. Plot 24 Kyabazinga Way falls under the area demarcated by UNRA for the passage of a new road and bridge to replace the old one at the Owen Falls Dam. The IGG said UNRA had contracted COWI, a consultancy firm, to validate the claims.

Napak to address plight of children
Napak district council on Friday presented budget estimates for the financial year 2011/2012 with a focus on curbing street children. Joseph Lomonyang, the secretary for finance, read the budget. He said 80% revenue would be got from the central Government. Lomonyang said agriculture would take the first priority, followed by health and education. He said generating enough food at home would control movement of children to the streets.Lomonyang encouraged the councillors to mobilise residents to embrace government programmes.
