Kanungu district has presented a sh13.5b budget for the 2011/2012 financial year with priority going to education. The budget was presented to the district council on Friday by the secretary for finance, Justine Kakurum, who represented the district chairperson, Josephine Kasya, at the function. In a budget speech read for her, Kasya said they focused on education because it is the engine of development. She said sh12.3b would be got from the central government, sh742.9m from the donor community and sh86.8m from local revenue.
