African triple jump champion Sarah Nambawa warmed up with 6.32m long jump, as she builds up for the World Athletics Championships due in Daegu, Korea next month.

The athlete, who is currently training in Finland with the Ghana national team, after a request by her coach Andrew Owusu- a Ghanaian triple jump record holder, is competing in a series of local Finland Circuit.

Nambawa, who is also set to represent Uganda at the university Games believes that the distance, which is just 0.13m off her personal best and national record, shows that she is improving and better things are still to come.

“Thank God for the second place yesterday in long jump with a 6:32. Am so happy that I have done well in long jump too this summer,” Said Nambawa.

By training with the Ghana Federation, Nambawa does not only get a discount on her accommodation but also travels with the Ghana national team to the competitions.

“That is the best offer I can make. I think it will lift her and make sure that she improves on her personal best. She will also continue having better instructions from other coaches and me,” said Owusu.
