Moroto NAADS officials face arrest
Moroto resident district commissioner Nahaman Ojwe has ordered NAADS officials to return the goats, cows and turkeys that were distributed to civil servants in Moroto municipality. He said the programme was meant to benefit the vulnerable people, but not civil servants who earned salaries. Ojwe issued the directive on Saturday. This was after a week of monitoring the performance of the programme in the municipality. “I need those animals redistributed to the right beneficiaries. If not, the NAADS officials risk arrests,” he said. Ojwee said, unlike the ordinary people, civil servants could get loans to develop themselves.

Soroti municipal staff suspended
Two senior employees of Soroti municipal council have been suspended over alleged gross negligence of duty. The municipal environment officer, Solomon Elungat and the senior law enforcement officer, Goodman Emmanuel Taban, have been given a six-month suspension. The pair allegedly failed to supervise the process of cutting, trimming and removal of old trees in public places in the municipality. The suspension followed an outcry by the residents of Soroti town over the rampant felling of trees recently.
