A sh336m road construction project in Myene sub-county, Oyam district has been completed and handed over to the community.

The project was funded by the World Food Programme.

The United National Development Programme (UNDP) country director, Lebogang Motlana, handed over the road during a function held at Acimi trading centre.

Joel Omara, a resident of Acimi, lauded WFP for the project, but said the road should be extended to link the community to Amuru district.

“We are calling upon the Government and humanitarian agencies to open more roads such that we are connected to other districts like Amuru and Nwoya,” Omara said.

Motlana urged the residents to utilise the road to improve their household income.

“The road is for your own economic benefit and you should use it properly and keep it well,” Motlana said.
