Get your groove on

WE have received a new batch of first years: my time is running out! No, I am not afraid I am growing old rather that I have not completed my list of things to do before I leave campus. You know that list, the one you started writing as soon as you got your admission forms.

I have already tried out for the cool club, I refuse to be turned down. We did that drink-up, which was a great landmark in the chronicles of a homebody like me. We even tried out the crazy hair, used loosely to mean: I put dreadlocks and was duly frowned upon by the elders.

This is the part where I go all out and join the late night hangout at Steak Out club. What do you need? For one, whatever you choose to wear should not be able to provide warmth. Being female means I also get preferential treatment and get away with any strange requests.

I recently found a group of guys complaining about one of their many girlfriends. Apparently, the group decided to go out and celebrate the end of their second year.

The guys got into their rides, picked up the ladies and headed out. Drinks were purchased and the group found themselves in one of the parking lots that have recently become popular for such outings. One of the ladies refused to drink off a bottle so they had to drive around shopping for glasses.

And true to form, I am a campus girl; therefore, you will pick me up from my residence, wait without complaining as I borrow my neighbour’s mascara and shoes; take me out, pay the bill and drop me off as soon as I start getting sleepy.

Please make sure you are dressed appropriately and your ride does not squeak around the shock absorbers – that’s embarrassing! Note also, that you need to put fuel in the said ride: I will not be caught pushing it in my new heels when it stalls outside Akamwesi.
